Wonder Wash Review and Giveaway
We received our Wonder Wash from Laundry Alternative and opened the box. Inside, there were a few parts and a slip of paper. Although they weren't clear cut instructions on assembly, it didn't take me long to put it together.
As most know, we live in an RV, so our laundry has a tendency to back up. And so it was, on that first day, we decided to put it to the test and empty the laundry basket.
The slip of paper does instruct as to how much detergent to put in and corresponding clothes limit. Surprisingly, it does take much less detergent than one would imagine.
Granted we don't get "that" dirty but clothes do take on a smell, so we were anxious to see how well this worked. Normal wear also seems to dictate the need for stains, which we weren't short on. We did pre-treat stains, as we would do prior to washing in a "regular" washing machine.
We filled the tub with hot tap water and the recommended detergent. First in was 5 T-shirts. We didn't want to overload it. Although it says that it is big enough to wash 7-8 dress shirts, 10 t-shirts, 4-5 bath towels, or 2-3 pairs of blue jeans, we wanted to judge for ourselves.
The air inside the drum absorbs the heat of the water and expands which creates pressure inside the drum. The pressure forces the detergent (which is diluted into the water) into & through the fabric (which is porous) about 100 times faster than you could by hand or machine.
We gave the handle a crank for about 2 minutes and drained the water. Out it came, a little dirty. We filled it with cold water, cranked the handle again for about a minute and drained it.
Next, came the wringing. When you pull the clothes out, they are sopping wet, as can be expected. We wrang them out as best as could be expected, put them on a hanger, then hung the hanger underneath the air vent. After a couple of hours, they were dry and smelled really fresh! The stains we pretreated had come out.
But that was just the first load. We still had a hamper full, to go. Next in was all the underwear AND a few white Ts. It is summer time, so socks weren't worn. Once again, it performed very well.
I guess we did 7-8 loads of laundry. Although the clothes are wet and need wringing when you pull them out, it performed extremely well and we were quite pleased.
We continued to wash laundry every day, keeping up with what was "dirty". There were a few stains along the way and if pretreated, they did come out.
Pros: Great for small spaces
Great for RVs
Great for Truckers
Great for small loads
Great for daycare
Great for folks with kids
Great for lingerie
Cons: None
It isn't supposed to wring out clothes, so I couldn't count this as a "con".
It performed as stated and we are just tickled! We wash our clothes, wring them out and hang them under the vents. Sheets? Well, it just isn't designed for that, as it would be too big and bulky and wringing it out would be a total challenge!
- 5 lb. load size
- Can fit 7-8 dress shirts, 10 T-Shirts, 30 pairs of socks or 2-3 pairs of jeans per load
- No electricity needed, powered by hand
- Uses 90% less water and detergent than most washers
- Warranty: 1 year manufacturer's warranty
Recommend? Yes, we certainly would. The price is only $42.95 and about $14 shipping. It pays for itself in no time!
