LOADED POTATO CASSEROLE

I love potatoes and this really is supreme. You can use it as a side dish but also as a main course. I posted a baked potato casserole yesterday, but this is a new twist.

Ingredients

8 medium potatoes (about 2 1/2 to 3 lb. total), peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks
1 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
2 cups (z. pkg.) shredded cheddar cheese, divided
6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled, divided OR 1 cup of diced ham
Sliced green onions (optional)

Directions

Place potatoes in large saucepan. Cover with water; bring to a boil. Cook over medium-high heat for 15 to 20 minutes or until tender; drain.

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease 3-quart casserole dish.

Return potatoes to saucepan; add evaporated milk, sour cream, salt and pepper.

Beat with hand held mixer or mash by hand until smooth. Stir in 1 1/2 cups cheese and half of bacon. Spoon mixture into prepared casserole dish.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until heated through.

Top with remaining 1/2 cup cheese, remaining bacon and green onions.

Bake for an additional 3 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Hooten Hooter's Spicy Buffalo Wings

Everyone knows Hooters for one thing… (no, not THAT!) It's the buffalo wings, of course! Now you can make these spicy buffalo wings at home!

Ingredients

Vegetable oil, for frying

4 tablespoons butter

1/4 cup Crystal Louisiana Hot Sauce

Dash of ground pepper

Dash of garlic powder

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon paprika

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1/4 teaspoon salt

10 chicken wings, cut into thirds and wing tips discarded

Bleu cheese dressing

Celery sticks

Instructions

Pour 2 inches of oil into deep fryer and heat to 375 degrees F.

In small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add hot sauce, black pepper and garlic powder and stir until well mixed.

In a gallon size zip-type bag, mix flour, paprika, cayenne pepper and salt .

Rinse chicken wings under cold water and drain excess water. Drop wings into bag a few at a time, shaking to coat after each addition. When all wings have been coated, remove from bag and place on wax paper-lined plate or tray. Refrigerate at least 1 hour to help set coating.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Carefully lower a few wings at a time into oil. Fry 15-20 minutes or till light brown. Drain wings on paper towel and repeat with remaining wings.

Place cooked wings in large ovenproof bowl or baking pan; pour sauce over wings and stir to coat thoroughly. Place in oven 5 minutes or so to make sure all wings are served hot.

Serve wings with celery sticks and bleu cheese dressing on the side.

Make your own household cleaners

All-Purpose Cleaner – Mix together two tablespoons of mild dishwashing soap and two cups of water in a spray bottle and give it a shake. Use this anywhere that you would use a commercial all-purpose spray. This cleaner is particularly great for countertops, bathroom surfaces, and high chairs.

Glass Cleaner – Mix together one part white vinegar to one part water in a spray bottle. Spray this solution on your mirrors and windows and dry your windows with newspaper. The newspaper is great for lint-free drying.

Homemade Oven Cleaner/Deep Kitchen Cleaner – Mix a paste of three parts warm water to one part baking soda to clean away kitchen stains or to clean your oven.

Bathroom Cleaner – Mix dishwashing liquid with baking soda until you have a thick paste and use this throughout your bathroom.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner – No measuring is required with this recipe. Sprinkle a little baking soda into your toilet bowl and then pour a little vinegar in and watch it fizz it up. Give it a swish with your toilet brush and then flush.

Floor Cleaner – Add 1/2 cup of vinegar to a gallon of water. The scent of the vinegar will fade in approximately an hour, but you can also add a couple of drops of essential oil to help with the scent.

Furniture Polish – Mix 1/4 cup olive oil with four tablespoons of vinegar and two teaspoons of lemon juice. Pour into a spray bottle and shake well before using. If you do not use all of it in one cleaning session, store the remainder in the fridge, as the lemon juice can go sour.

I just love old wives' tales! Love 'em! I've often wondered, though, why we don't have old husband's tales? Nevermind…..

BASEBALL BAT	Spit on a new bat before using it for the first time to make it lucky
BED	It's bad luck to put a hat on a bed.
	If you make a bedspread, or a quilt, be sure to finish it or marriage will never come to you
	Placing a bed facing north and south brings misfortune.
	You must get out of bed on the same side that you get in or you will have bad luck.
	When making the bed, don't interrupt your work, or you will spend a restless night in it.
BEE	If a bee enters your home, it's a sign that you will soon have a visitor. If you kill the bee, you will have bad luck, or the visitor will be unpleasant.
	A swarm of bees settling on a roof is an omen that the house will burn down.
BELL	The sound of bells drives away demons because they're afraid of the loud noise.
	When a bell rings, a new angel has received his wings.
BIRD	A bird in the house is a sign of a death.
	If a robin flies into a room through a window, death will shortly follow.
